CORRECTION!
"I truly appreciate the contributions and feedback provided by our readers from time to time. Several of our sharp readers and growers brought to my attention an error in my Jan 3, 2010, Pod Doctor column. The error had to do with herbicide alternatives for use on conventional (non-GMO) soybean. One of the herbicides, Thunder MasterTM, which I had listed in my column is NOT an option for conventional soybean. I had identified Thunder Master as a packaged mixture of imazethapyr and pendimethilin, similar to Pursuit Plus. THIS IS WRONG. Thunder Master is a packaged mixture of imathethapyr and glyphosate, similar to a tank mixture of Pursuit and Roundup. Thunder Master should definitely NOT be used on conventional soybean, as the glyphosate will definitely kill the conventional soybean.
"Having said that, ThunderTM, the imazethapyr product similar to Pursuit, IS available for use on conventional soybean, since it does not contain glyphosate. Thunder can be used by itself or can be tank mixed with Prowl (pendimethilin) to provide herbicide options similar to Pursuit and Pursuit Plus, respectively. However, Thunder and pendimethilin are not available as a packaged mixture. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused earlier regarding these herbicide options. We have corrected this information in the original column. Thank you to all of you who brought this to my attention. Keep those cards and letters coming."
